8 Ball Pool Coaching Course
For the first time CueAction professional, Steve Daking, offers a course of 8 Ball training in a group environment. The course will take place at Mr Pools in Colchester where Steve is resident professional. (www.mrpools.co.uk)

The course covers all aspects of the game and is designed to give the player all the information they need not only to get results, but to diagnose and correct any faults that may creep into their game in the future.  This course is suitable for all players from beginner to county ‘A’ standard, and gives the student all the tools needed to get results on a consistent basis. As well as group exercises, each student will have some one-to-one time with the course tutor where individual problems can be addressed.

The course dates are:
Sunday 11th May 7.30pm to 9.30pm
Sunday 25th May 7.30pm to 9.30pm
Sunday 29th June 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Sunday 20th July 7.30pm to 9.30pm

Comedy award for The Pool Guy
CueAction resident professional, Steve Daking, has been awarded the ‘Top Show’ award by the producers of the Big Laugh Comedy Festival. Steve took his theatre show ‘The Pool Guy’ to Sydney, Australia for 6 nights at the Riverside Theatre in March 2007.

The show features some never before seen trickshots, mixed with comedy and audience participation. Steve says ‘It’s amazing to be performing the other side of the world in such a great venue. The stage gives me the opportunity to play trickshots I wouldn’t usually attempt on strange pool tables, and it’s fantastic to get the crowd involved. By the end of the night we have this cast of characters that have volunteered for stuff and taken part in the show… It’s brilliant!”

The show first opened at the Edinburgh Festival in 2006, where it ran for 28 nights.

Bulmers Original Potting Challenge
Starting in April and running into June, Steve Daking will be seeking the Bulmers Original Potting Challenge Champion.

Selected Charles Wells venues will be holding qualification tournaments in the run up to Steve hosting a final at each venue.

The local finalists will each compete on the night to record a high score that can win them £200. There are plenty of other prizes too for Steve to give away.

Click here to find a participating venue, and keep looking in the Bulmers Original Potting Challenge forum at stevedaking.com for the leaderboard from the end of April as the first finals take place.
The Pool Guy
This summer Steve Daking will be taking a giant leap into the world of mainstream entertainment, when he performs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. For months he has been quietly working away on a new show, which is a combination of stand-up comedy and trickshots designed exclusively for the stage. The show is called ‘The Pool Guy’ (Comedy with Balls!)

Nearly every evening throughout August (2nd to 28th) Steve will be performing this brand new show in the ‘C’ theatre in the heart of Edinburgh.

This really is a new concept and no one has done anything like this before, so it is a venture into unknown territory; but if successful Steve hopes to bring pool to a more mainstream audience, and generate fair bit of media interest along the way.

Steve says "As well as coming up with some new trickshots for the show, I have also been doing some stand-up in the London comedy clubs. So I am all revved up to apply a rude amount of spin on the cueball and be hilarious at the same time. Something that no cuesports professional has ever done before!"

We have set up a show website at stevedaking.com/thepoolguy Click here
Please help us to sell the show by clicking the 'Tell a Friend' link while you are there.

Mr Pools reaches 250
The website of Mr Pools Club (mrpools.co.uk), designed & maintained by CueAction recently reached the milestone of 250 members.

The website was designed to act as a local forum for the players directly involved in competitions at the club, as well as to showcase the club and events to prospective members.

One of the main features of the site is a fully integrated database of players & results going back over the last three years, with statistics from all the major events held at the club in that time. The largest event is the Singles League, also run by CueAction, with 12 divisions played every month on the club tables.
